Baklava, like, alwayssssss has pistachios and sometimes even dates. And they have to be overpoweringly, throat-achingly sweet with honey or syrup, so they're cut into teeny little squares (not always. The bigger they are the less sweet, usually. BUT I LIKE THE ONES THAT TEAR THE SKIN OFF YOUR THROAT.). Best accompanied by Turkish coffee so thick you can stand a spoon in it. <br /><br />But I didn't realize how well this lends itself to being vegan! As I've never been a huge fan of faux-anything, maybe melted brown sugar would work as well? <br /><br />P.S.
